Duke star Grayson Allen is injured and will miss Saturday’s game at Miami. The guard is battling a bum ankle.

Duke will be shorthanded for its game today at Miami.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman, guard Grayson Allen is sitting out the contest against the Hurricanes due to an ankle injury.

The 6-foot-5, 202-pound Florida native is averaging 15.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game in a season that has seen him battle injuries and a suspension for his tripping antics. Predicted by some to win the national player of the year award, Allen has also had to adjust to being the Blue Devils’ point guard, which has been an adjustment for his style of play.

After his hot four-game stretch following the team’s last-second loss to NC State, the junior has cooled off again. In his last four contests, he has shot just 9-of-39 from the floor.

While the No. 10 Blue Devils are used to playing shorthanded, as they have dealt with several different injuries this year, going against the Hurricanes was going to be quite the challenge even if Allen was on the floor. Since Jim Larrañaga took over Miami in 2011-12, the ‘Canes are 3-1 against Top-10 Duke teams.

Duke has struggled on the road this season, as the Blue Devils are just 3-4 in the ACC in opposing gyms. Their last time out, they suffered a last-second loss against Syracuse at the Carrier Dome.

Look for freshman Frank Jackson, who is averaging 9.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game, to get increased minutes with Allen out.
