Drew Martin, a 2018 quarterback prospect from Tennessee, visited LSU this past weekend and came away impressed with the Tigers and head coach Ed Orgeron.

A new offensive coordinator in Matt Canada and a new system that will open up the passing game at LSU will attract some of the nation’s top prospects at quarterback. That was the case this past weekend, as pro-style quarterback Drew Martin of Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, Tenn. visited Baton Rouge.

“It was a great experience,” Martin said. “It was just a great time being there and getting to take it all in. I got there and showed up to the football facility, and they had people set up to sign me in and all that. I walked around and watched practice, and that was great to see. Practice was really smooth and fast-paced. It was super impressive given it was their first practice with new coaches. It was about two or two and a half hours, and it was upbeat and intense the entire time.”

The 6’2, 190 lbs. Martin will be entering his senior season this fall and be a member of the 2018 signing class. He got to spend time with head coach Ed Orgeron during his time on campus, and also caught up with a current Tiger from his hometown.

“After practice I was talking with Coach O, and he was telling me I needed to get with Austin Thomas, because we have a connection in Tennessee,” Martin said. “He’s from Franklin and graduated from my school. I talked to him for 30 or 40 minutes, and he’s a great guy. It was awesome having that connection.”
