Behold the power of the Florida State Seminoles.

Despite the fact Jimbo Fisher’s staff has yet to extend a scholarship offer to 4-star prospect Dorian Thompson-Robinson, the nation’s No. 7 quarterback and No. 74 overall player still included the ‘Noles on his list of top schools. They were joined by Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCLA and UNLV.

The positive trend for FSU in his recruitment has been, in part, due to word of mouth. But Thompson-Robinson told 247Sports he can see himself following in the footsteps of Florida State’s most recent Heisman Trophy winner.

“I’ve heard a lot of good things about FSU. I want to do something like what Jameis Winston did, run that type of offense and be around the type of play makers FSU always brings in,” Thompson-Robinson said.

The Florida State staff is ironing out the details, trying to get the Las Vegas native to throw in person for Fisher. Depending on whether or not Fisher and his staff like what they see, an offer should follow – something Thompson-Robinson is certainly hoping for.

FSU can’t afford to wait too long, though.

Michigan and UCLA have been major players for Thompson-Robinson for quite awhile. And with Jedd Fisch having left the Wolverines to become the Bruins’ new offensive coordinator, things could get interesting as the 2018 recruiting cycle progresses.

Even Oregon and Florida have made positive moves in Thompson-Robinson’s recruitment. The latter certainly won’t please Florida State fans, but it’s true. The Gators are looking to add at least one quarterback in this class, and Thompson-Robinson is high on their wish list.

The good news for FSU is its need for a passer isn’t as strong.

The ‘Noles signed 4-star quarterback Bailey Hockman and 3-star quarterback James Blackman in the 2017 class. Plus, Deondre Francois took a major step forward this past season, and he could be on the cusp of stardom in 2017.

Then again, you can never have too many quarterbacks. Depth is a luxury, and Thompson-Robinson has the kind of skill set to excel at the next level.
