Typically, most people aren’t too fond of Mondays, but Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines are having a great start to the week.

It started when 4-star center Cesar Ruiz committed to Michigan over Auburn, Florida and North Carolina. Life got better for Harbaugh’s staff when the Wolverines added another commit four hours later.

Four-star recruit Deron Irving-Bey committed to Michigan despite having offers from Iowa, Maryland, Michigan State, Pitt, Tennessee and others.

Irving-Bey, a Flint, Michigan native, is ranked as the No. 24 defensive end and No. 279 overall player in the country. In a video he released via Landof10, Irving-Bey sums up his decision bluntly by saying, “The best players in Michigan go to Michigan.”

With the addition of Irving-Bey, the Wolverines now climb up to No. 2 in the 2017 recruiting class rankings, passing No. 4 Ohio State and No. 3 Oklahoma in the process. Now, Michigan is 654 recruiting points behind No. 1 Alabama for the top class in the country.

At 6-foot-5, 272 lbs Irving-Bey is an agile, athletic defender with long arms. He fires off the ball and can get up the field in a hurry. Irving-Bey is progressing as a hand fighter and developing his technique as a pass rusher, which coaches Don Brown and Greg Mattison can help him tremendously with as he comes into his own.

Irving-Bey’s pledge is also the fourth commit Michigan has collected in less than a week. On Wednesday, the Wolverines added 4-star wide receiver Tarik Black. Roughly 24 hours later, they added 5-star wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones.
