February 1, 2017Four-star cornerback Deommodore Lenoir signed with the Oregon Ducks on National Signing Day, giving Willie Taggart’s team 24 total commits in the 2017 recruiting class.
When the Ducks let go of Mark Helfrich, it was clear the program was going through a transitionary phase. That was one reason why 4-star prospect Deommodore Lenoir decommitted following Helfrich’s departure.
Now, with Willie Taggart in charge, Oregon is no longer looking to “Win The Day.” The Ducks are looking to “Do Something.” And they did that on National Signing Day when Lenoir re-joined the class and signed with Oregon.
At 6-foot, 170 lbs Lenoir suffocates wide receivers off the line of scrimmage, winning those one-on-one matchups with his strength and jamming ability. He’s extremely tough and plays the position intelligently. He has a high football IQ and is fully aware of where he is, where his man is and where the quarterback wants to go with the football at all times.
Aside from simply getting Lenoir back into the class, the Ducks also knocked it out of the park by combining the Los Angeles native with a Rancho Cucamonga, California native in 4-star cornerback Thomas Graham Jr.
While Lenoir is ranked as the No. 7 cornerback and No. 59 overall player in the country, Graham is ranked as the No. 9 cornerback and No. 85 overall player in the nation. The two of them together could create a no-fly-zone in Eugene. Opposing quarterbacks will have their poison, as both cornerbacks are pick-six candidates.
Oregon finished the day with 24 total commits and at No. 16 in the 2017 recruiting class rankings. That’s a tremendous finish considering the Ducks were outside top 30 in the days leading up to National Signing Day.
