Demetris Robertson has an official visit set to Georgia as the Bulldogs hope to land their fourth 5-star prospect of 2016.

You thought it was over, didn’t you? You all thought Kirby Smart was just going to turn the page, readjust his sights and lock on to the 2017 class with the rest of the college football world.

    Guess again.

Five-star prospect Demetris Robertson, the No. 3 athlete and No. 23 overall recruit from the 2016 class, has an official visit in Athens, Ga. on Friday, March 18, according to 247Sports.

With Robertson having already taken official visits to Notre Dame, Cal, Georgia Tech and Alabama, Smart is hoping he possesses the magic elixir lock down one final recruit.

Though National Signing Day was on Feb. 3, Robertson delayed his decision due to a format change with the SAT. The Savannah, Ga. native has been waiting on his test scores to see if he could be admitted into Stanford, information he won’t have until May. The only problem there is that the deadline to sign a National Letter of Intent is April 1 — the math doesn’t quite work out there.

So which route does Robertson take? He’ll have to sign a grant-in-aid package with any school. Although, that’s a non-binding document, meaning the player could change his mind at the last second and enroll with whichever school he wants to that is willing to take him.

From the Bulldogs’ perspective, a perfect visit has the potential to help bypass that entire murky situation. The idea of playing close to home is an intriguing one.

Beyond that, Smart has done a remarkable job of stockpiling talent in his first recruiting class as a head coach. Georgia already has three 5-star signees from the 2016 class: Jacob Eason, Mecole Hardman Jr. and Isaac Nauta. So while there’s a new head coach, it’s not like Robertson would be walking into a rebuilding situation.

There’s a lot for Robertson to consider, but count on Smart to make a strong push in order to retain the home-state talent.
