5-Star athlete Demetris Robertson’s recruitment could be coming to an end after signing a financial aid agreement with the California Golden Bears.

The chase for Demetris Robertson could be coming to an end very soon.

The 5-star recruit is the No. 3 athlete and No. 23 overall prospect in the 2016 class, and he just signed an aid agreement with California of all schools, according to Rivals, who spoke to Robertson’s brother and guardian, Carlos Robertson.

A Savannah, Ga. native, Robertson is scheduled to take his fifth and final official visit to UGA this month. He’s already visited Georgia Tech, Alabama, Notre Dame and Cal.

While the Golden Bears have some momentum following head coach Sonny Dykes’ in-home visit back in January, it could be hard to lure Robertson out of state and away from the Bulldogs. Kirby Smart has been one of the hottest recruiters in the country as of late, and he already has a trio of 5-star prospects signed from the 2016 cycle: quarterback Jacob Eason, tight end Isaac Nauta and athlete Mecole Hardman Jr.

Robertson delayed his college decision to see if his SAT scores would get him admitted into Stanford. The problem, however, is that the deadline to sign a letter of intent is April 1. He’s not scheduled to get his scores back until May — thus the need for the aid agreement.

The agreement is not binding, though, so Robertson will still be able to enroll at the school of his choice providing he’s granted admission.

There’s a possibility he could sign another aid agreement with Georgia Tech soon, but a great visit in Athens may keep that from happening.

If Robertson were to enroll at Cal, he’d be arguably the most explosive athlete the Golden Bears have seen since DeSean Jackson committed more than a decade ago.
