Florida State is on the verge of a strong finish as the recruiting cycle winds down. Jimbo Fisher’s Seminoles are in the hunt for a few blue-chip prospects including 5-star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson and 4-star outside linebackers Levi Jones and Leonard Warner.
However, there is at least one name removed from their board as of Wednesday morning. Three-star recruit DeMarco Artis confirmed to 247Sports that he is no longer committed to Florida State.
The Sanford, Florida native originally flipped his commitment from UCF to FSU on Aug. 2. He’s ranked as the No. 64 defensive end in the country and the No. 10 defensive end in the state of Florida. However, at the next level, Artis would likely play the role of edge rusher, standing up as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme.
With the ‘Noles now out of the picture, the 3-star prospect will likely visit Oregon this upcoming weekend. He’ll have a chance to see the program Willie Taggart has taken over in Eugene, and it won’t be the first time they’ve crossed paths. Taggart extended a scholarship offer to Artis on March 31, when he was serving as head coach at USF.
However, it’s not in the bag for the Ducks yet.
Artis officially visited Baylor last weekend, and Matt Rhule’s staff would love to add him to their class. The Bears have added 16 commitments in the past three weeks, and landing Artis would fill a need for them.
