Five-star athlete DeAngelo Gibbs committed to Georgia on Sunday, giving the Bulldogs 21 total commits in the 2017 recruiting class.
The country’s No. 13 overall player will be spending his college football career close to home.
On Sunday, at the 2017 Under Armour All-America Game, DeAngelo Gibbs committed to Georgia.
Gibbs, who is from Loganville, Georgia, is ranked as the No. 2 athlete in the nation and the No. 1 athlete in the Peach State. He chose the Bulldogs over Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee.
Now, Georgia has 21 total commits in the cycle.
The addition of Gibbs added 299 recruiting points, as the Bulldogs stay put at No. 3 in the 2017 recruiting class rankings with 4,448 total points. They trail No. 1 Alabama (4,802) and No. 2 Michigan (4,495).
At 6-foot-2, 204 lbs Gibbs is truly an elite athlete. At the next level, he can easily and quickly make an impact at either cornerback or wide receiver. He has great ball skills and can accelerate in the blink of an eye.
His decision comes a week after UGA added a pledge from 4-star inside linebacker Nate McBride on Christmas Day.
The Bulldogs have commitments from four wide receivers, and four are rated as 4-star recruits: Mark Webb, Jeremiah Holloman and Trey Blount. They also have 3-star prospect Matt Landers.
As far as the secondary is concerned, Georgia also has pledges from 4-star safety Richard LeCounte and 4-star cornerback William Poole III.
But the Bulldogs could be adding to their 2017 class again quite soon, as they’re in play for both 5-star defensive tackle Aubrey Solomon and 4-star defensive end Markaviest Bryant.
