Brian Kelly sure knows how to close out a weekend on a high note.

One day after landing a commitment from 4-star quarterback Avery Davis, the Fighting Irish tacked on another vital piece to their 2017 recruiting class. Four-star prospect David Adams, the No. 6 inside linebacker and nation’s No. 101 overall recruit, committed to Notre Dame Sunday.

Adams, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., tweeted out a message announcing his commitment, prefacing the tweet with “God. Country. Notre Dame.” He tacked on a four-leaf-clover emoji for good luck, too.

Adams is the sixth addition to the 2017 group for Notre Dame, all of whom are 4-star recruits. He’s also the program’s second commit from Pennsylvania, joining Josh Lugg, the No. 15 offensive tackle in the country.

Aside from being the second-highest-rated commit in the Irish’s class, Adams is also its first commit on the defensive side of the ball.
