Four-star safety Daniel Wright has flipped his commitment from the Florida State Seminoles to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The nation’s No. 15 safety has had a change of heart.

On Thursday, Daniel Wright, the younger brother of former Florida Gator Major Wright, decided to flip his commitment from Florida State to Alabama.

Ranked as the No. 158 overall player in the 2017 recruiting class, Wright released a statement regarding his decision to flip from the Seminoles to the Crimson Tide.

“Throughout this journey, there have been many hard obstacles and battles that have approached me. But with the strong support system of my family, I have finally thought it out about my future dream and college team for the next 3-4 years. I want to thank all the college coaches along the way in this process, but I will be decommitting from Florida State University and taking my future step with academics and abilities to play football at the University of Alabama.”

Wright originally committed to FSU on June 15 while attending a recruiting camp in Tallahassee.

However, he officially visited Tuscaloosa on Nov. 12 for Alabama’s 51-3 win over Mississippi State. Wright also received a visit from Mario Cristobal, the Tide’s offensive line coach, last Friday.

The real power move by Alabama, though, came on Monday when Nick Saban paid Wright a visit. Clearly, it had an effect, as the 4-star prospect from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida flipped his pledge two days later.

Alabama now has 24 total commitments and still has the No. 1 spot in the 2017 recruiting class rankings.
