Dalvin Cook On Little Brother, James Cook: ‘He’s A Little Ahead Of Where I Was’

FSU running back Dalvin Cook spoke with Campus Insiders about his little brother, James Cook, and he had some high praise for the 4-star running back.

FSU running back Dalvin Cook spoke with Campus Insiders about his little brother, James Cook, and he had some high praise for the 4-star running back.

Before he signed with the Seminoles, Dalvin Cook spent time as both a Clemson and a Florida commit. The former 4-star running back was one of the most sought-after recruits in the nation.

In fact, he was the No. 4 running back in the 2014 recruiting class behind Leonard Fournette, Sony Michel and Roc Thomas, respectively.

Cook’s younger brother, James, currently ranks as the No. 9 running back and No. 91 overall player in the 2018 class — Dalvin was No. 16 overall.

Unlike his older brother, James Cook wasted little time accepting his future as a ‘Nole tailback. The 4-star prospect committed to FSU on March 11, and he’s one of five 2018 4-star commits for the Seminoles, who have six total commits in the class.

When Dalvin spoke with Campus Insiders recently, he had high praise for his brother and was pretty humble about his own game in the process.

“It’s actually actually similar,” Dalvin said when asked to compare his game to his brother’s. “As far as the level he’s on right now, he’s a little ahead of where I was at that age.”

Even with the stress of the 2016 college football season, the 2017 NFL Draft looming and the likelihood of being a first-round pick in the back of his mind, Dalvin finds time to motivate his little brother.

“His work ethic is through the roof. We both have that speed mentality and ‘get the job done’ mentality. He’s a hard worker, and I push him every day to set the standard high for when he gets here,” he said.

When Dalvin came out of Miami Central High School, he was listed at 5-foot-11, 197 lbs. James, who currently attends Miami Central, is listed at 5-foot-11, 190 lbs.

And like his older brother, James flashes great vision and an ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. He’s an instinctual halfback capable of maintaining his balance when breaking through tackles.

With Dalvin in his corner, James may be gearing up to provide FSU fans with a case of deja vú in the near future.
