Four-star quarterback Dakereon Joyner clarified the status of his recruitment and reaffirmed when he’ll make his college commitment.

The recruitment of 4-star prospect Dakereon Joyner is getting interesting.

Lately, the dual-threat quarterback, who’s also ranked as the No. 195 overall player in the country, has been rumored to have already made a decision on where he’ll spend his collegiate football career.

However, the North Charleston, South Carolina native took to Twitter on Sunday to set the record straight.

He released a statement explaining he’s not silently committed anywhere and is waiting until this summer to go public with his pledge.

“To clarify all the rumors, I am not committed anywhere. My recruiting process is still very active and [is] open to all schools. Again, I will be committing June 18, 2017 — no earlier than that date. Please show some respect to my family and [me]. It is greatly appreciated.”

While power programs like Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Louisville and others have all made plays and continue to pursue Joyner as the 2018 recruiting cycle continues, it’s the South Carolina Gamecocks who are still considered the heavy favorite to land Joyner’s commitment.

With Brandon McIlwain transferring, Will Muschamp’s staff needs to add a quarterback to their class now more than ever in order to provide some depth behind Jake Bentley.

Last Thursday, Joyner took an unofficial visit to Columbia and was a spectator for the Gamecocks’ spring practice.
