    Western Athletic Conference

    Won conference tournament

    The Good

When it comes to making runs in the NCAA Tournament — especially for a double-digit seed looking to to make some noise — is to have a go-to scoring option to throw the ball to in the half court. Aly Ahmed is that kind of scorer for the Roadrunners. His ability to shoot away from the basket can draw out centers and create lanes to the basket for guys like Dedrick Basile and Damiyne Durham. It also opens up the offensive glass for Kevin Mays.

    The Bad

Having a successful run in March comes down to making shots, but that has been an issue for CSU Bakersfield this season — at least from the perimeter. The Roadrunners only knock down 34.4 percent of their three-point attempts and were 313th in the nation with 5.5 three-point field goals per game. If they can’t knock down open looks from downtown, opposing defenses will dare them to shoot. A one-dimensional offense won’t get it done this time of year.

    Prediction

The Roadrunners are going up against one of the most talented teams in the nation. Not only was Oklahoma in the conversation for being a No. 1 seed, but it has a Player of the Year candidate in Buddy Hield. This one won’t be lose. The Sooners will handle CSU Bakersfield and cut the Roadrunners’ dance short.
