February 1, 2017Four-star running back Cordarrian Richardson committed to Maryland on National Signing Day, giving the Terrapins their 30th commit in the 2017 recruiting class.
There are few college commitments as unique as the one Cordarrian Richardson had on National Signing Day.
As part of a video with Bleacher Report, the nation’s No. 101 overall player and No. 8 running back committed to Maryland over Michigan State, Oklahoma and Ole Miss. Richardson and some friends tied a camera to some balloons and set it up into outer space, where the Terrapins were featured alongside the Spartans, Rebels and Sooners.
However, it was the Terps that won out, and they’re getting a stud added to their backfield. At 5-foot-11, 222 lbs Richardson totes the rock instinctually and runs with a ton of power. He isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder and meet a linebacker head on. The truly special attribute that he carries is his vision. Despite the lack of breakaway speed, the 4-star halfback sees the field well and can make quick decisions regarding which running lane he should attack.
The interesting part about his commitment to Maryland is the fact that he’s now one of two blue-chip tailbacks the Terps have picked up recently. They also signed 4-star prospect Anthony McFarland, the No. 71 overall player and No. 6 running back in the country. McFarland is recovering from a broken fibula, which he underwent surgery for this past season.
His recovery could give an advantage to Richardson as far as the depth chart is concerned.
Maryland currently has 30 total commits and sits at No. 9 in the 2017 recruiting class rankings.
