Connor Cook injury update regarding the Michigan State quarterback's banged up shoulder. Here's the latest from Mark Dantonio and Cook.
November 17, 2015Connor Cook’s shoulder injury in the first quarter against Maryland on Saturday didn’t seem so bad when the senior quarterback finished out the first half. But his 6-of-20 passing for an intereption begged to differ.
Junior quarterback Tyler O’Connor spelled Cook in the second half en route to a 24-7 win for the Spartans.
When asked about the shoulder this week, Cook responded with “Shoulder’s great … feels good.” But when he was asked about whether or not he’d gotten any X-rays or could throw the ball, Cook told the Detroit Free Press, “Um, I’m not gonna answer that question.”
Staying true to the ambiguous fashion was Cook’s head coach, Mark Dantonio, who didn’t take too kindly to a reporter asking, “Just to be clear, you expect [Connor Cook] to play this week?”
“Just to be clear, we don’t talk about injuries,” Dantonio said on Tuesday.
Dantonio and his players may not want to address injuries, but the Spartans will need their starting quarterback when they go up against Ohio State this Saturday.
Michigan State visits the Buckeyes with kickoff set for noon ET.
