This is the game I’m most looking forward to this week. I really like both teams, and have enjoyed watching Washington State’s resurgence since it lost to Eastern Washington and Boise State. Luke Falk will go off in Boulder, throwing for five touchdowns as the Cougars prep for their Apple Cup showdown with a quality victory over the Buffaloes.

I spoke with Sefo Liufau earlier this week, and he really impressed me with how the Buffaloes have united under Mike MacIntyre. That said, I just don’t see Wazzu losing this football game. Luke Falk has been way too hot this season, and he’s going to hook up with Gabe Marks for a couple of touchdowns. Gerard Wick and Jamal Morrow will take care of things in the running game, and the Cougars will win a close one.

River Cracraft has been lost for the rest of the season, but Luke Falk still has plenty of weapons at his disposal, including Gabe Marks. Meanwhile, Sefo Liufau needs to have a big game with his legs and his arm to complement the rushing of Phillip Lindsay. The only way the Buffaloes can slip past Wazzu is if Liufau is his multi-dimensional self and the secondary limits big plays and the overall defense is stout in the red zone. Give me Mike MacIntyre’s team in Boulder, as a potential Rose Bowl appearance remains in play.

    Matt Stanford

The two best stories in the PAC-12 collide in Boulder, but only one will keep the fairy tale going. Colorado is ranked No. 10, 12 spots above Washington State which is No. 22, but don’t let that fool you. Washington State has scored 69 and 56 points the last two weeks and will force the Buffs offense to try and keep up. Sefo Liufau and Phillip Lindsay have been phenomenal this season, but it’ll be the improvement shown by Wazzu’s defense that will be the difference in this one.

Like Cal last week, look for WSU (+4.5) to force a key turnover or two and win its ninth straight game. (Best radio oddsmaker voice) THE WRONG TEAM’S FAVORED! I’LL TAKE THE COUGS TO WIN THE GAME OUTRIGHT!

    Brian Stultz

Now that Mike Leach will probably retire from coaching to serve on Donald Trump’s staff in some capacity, the Cougars will be looking for a new coach. How do you follow up an eccentric guy? With another one! That is why I say Washington State does whatever it takes to hire Houston Nutt as head coach. Sure, he’s never coached in the Pac-12, but he has in the SEC and he had a winning record.

As for the game, I can’t go against my buddy Matt Stanford, nor all of the lovely Cougars fans I have met. They are a fun bunch. Washington State keeps on rolling, and those losses to Eastern Washington and Boise State continue to grow more dumbfounding.
