College football recruiting rankings update as of April 9, 2017. The Clemson Tigers have climbed into the top five while the Florida Gators have made their way into the top 25.

The Miami Hurricanes remain the hottest team on the recruiting trail, as they still sit at No. 1 in the 2018 recruiting class rankings. Mark Richt’s staff could increase its lead on Thursday, should it land 4-star cornerback Asante Samuel Jr.

However, the St. Thomas Aquinas High School star is projected to end up with ACC rival Florida State when he announces his commitment. Landing him would bump the Seminoles up from No. 8 to No. 6.

Staying within the Sunshine State, Jim McElwain’s Gators were ranked No. 47 about two weeks ago and have since catapulted up to No. 23, flying right past Alabama who has now dropped to No. 25 in the rankings. Florida picked up commitments from 3-star wide receiver Corey Gammage and 3-star tight end Jalen Goss following its spring game on Friday night. The Gators also added to their 2019 class, which ranks No. 1 overall.

Florida is currently battling Clemson for 4-star wide receiver Jacob Copeland and 4-star offensive tackle Richard Gouraige, but the Tigers seem to be doing just fine without their commitments right now. Clemson convinced 5-star defensive end Xavier Thomas to end his recruitment eight months early and commit to the Tigers. They beat out in-state rival South Carolina for the nation’s No. 1 overall player. Clemson also added 3-star wide receiver Braden Galloway and now sits at No. 5 in the class rankings.

Moving out west, No. 7 Washington added a commitment from 4-star tight end Devin Culp, a former Oregon commit, and now the Huskies have moved past Pac-12 rival USC. The Trojans sit at No. 6 with five total commits.

Below are the current top 25 teams for the college football recruiting rankings.
