The College Football Playoff field has been set, and Twitter went off with reactions from the sports world following the announcement.
December 6, 2015The College Football Playoff committee has tossed and turned. It’s thrown out statistics and justifications, and now it has announced the top four teams in the country who will fight it out for a national championship.
With the Clemson Tigers taking the No. 1 spot, the Alabama Crimson Tide were slotted into the No. 2 position.
Nick Saban’s guys will face off against the No. 3 Michigan State Spartans, and Dabo Swinney will get Clemson ready to play the No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners.
It’s an SEC vs. Big Ten and ACC vs. Big 12 showdown for a shot to play for all the marbles.
Both CFP semifinal games are scheduled for New Year’s Eve and the winner of each will meet on Monday, January 11 for the national title.
Below is a roundup of Twitter reactions from the sports world following Sunday’s announcement of the field.
The @OU_Football Redemption Tour could be capped: 5 L's last season. They avenged the first 4. Clemson beat 'em by 34. #CFBPlayoff

So being an undefeated ACC champ was good for Clemson, but not for Florida State. #CFBPlayoffLogic

The Committee Chairman just said that Clemson has 3 Top-10 wins. That means ND, #FSU, and UNC all in the Top-10.

Oklahoma opening as a 2 pt favorite over Clemson proves how big a joke the matchups are. Alabama treated as the 1 seed.

Alabama opens as a 9-point favorite over Michigan State, per LVSuperbook.

The good news for MSU is Connor Cook should be healthy. And he's a better QB than Alabama has faced.

#Alabama has been in five of the last seven BCS Championships/College Football Playoffs.
— Andrew Bone (@AndrewJBone) December 6, 2015
The Big Ten East was better this year than the SEC West. There is no justification for putting #Alabama ahead of #MichiganState.

Rankings should be:
1. Clemson
2. Alabama
3. Michigan St.
4. Oklahoma
5. Stanford
6. Ohio St.

I think Oklahoma is potentially best team, but:
-lost to 5-win Tex
-needed Tenn implosion to win
-beat TCU w/o Boykin
-beat Bay w/o Russell

Not sure why the committee is protecting Bama from playing Oklahoma in Dallas in the semi. I think OU should have been 3. What do I know?
— Andrea Adelson (@aadelsonESPN) December 6, 2015
Based on my expert viewing of parts of seven college football games this year, going with Oklahoma to cut down the proverbial nets.
