My oldest nephew, Aaron, got his first car yesterday … and then went and wrecked it within 24 hours of having it. I’m not sure what he was doing, but I’m just happy that he is okay and not injured. As for the car, it will need a little repair. Slow down out there, Aaron.

In college football, former USC quarterback Matt Leinart is proud of the Trojans turnaround this season, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has praised Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio, and Florida State running back Dalvin Cook talked with Campus Insiders about his little brother James. Here are some other newsworthy notes in the latest college football news roundup.

Harbaugh Makes It Rain – Jim Harbaugh has already had a huge impact on the Michigan football program in just his second year as head coach, and the powers-to-be in Ann Arbor are making sure he is compensated well for it. Harbaugh is now the highest paid coach in college football, earning $9 million a year. Alabama’s Nick Saban, who has actually won championships in his career, is second, earning a cool $6.9 million.

Sorry, Defenses – Auburn is No. 3 in the nation in rushing offense, averaging 302.86 yards per game, including a whopping 543 yards this past Saturday against Arkansas. They did that without the services of starting running back Kerryon Johnson, who has sat out for most of the last two games. He is now back, and gives Gus Malzahn another threat in the game against Ole Miss.

Two Tigers Suspended – Amid a police investigation over a shooting, Memphis wide receiver Jae’Lon Oglesby and cornerback Kam Prewitt have been suspended indefinitely by head coach Mike Norvell.
