I’m seeing Hamilton in 22 days, so if I tend to break out into verse every now and then during the roundup, just bear with me and know that I am not throwing away my shot.

In college football, Gus Malzahn has proved doubters wrong with a turnaround of the Auburn Tigers, despite the loss to Penn State, Ohio State is still in great position for the College Football Playoff, and we take a look at a wish list for Fresno State to be its next head coach. Here are some other newsworthy notes in the latest college football news roundup.

LSU Emails Released – This is not the best of looks for LSU athletic director Joe Alleva. Emails between him and other members of the athletic department discussing the Florida-LSU game that was postponed due to Hurricane Matthew have been released. LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette was quoted as saying, “What a joke,” while Alleva questioned whether the Gators were afraid of playing the Tigers.

Guys, you do realize you work for a public university, right?

Georgia Players Cleared – The Bulldogs take on rival Florida this Saturday, and just in time, Georgia’s two leading tacklers Natrez Patrick and Roquan Smith, both linebackers, will be able to play after being cleared of marijuana possession charges. That’s bad news for an already struggling Florida offense.

We Disagree – Hey, Mike Leach. Give us Cubs fans a break and focus your misplaced anger on fellow Pac-12 coaches. The Washington State head coach went on a little rant about the Chicago Cubs faithful.

“There’s some teams — the Cubs are one of them — where there’s just too many Cubs fans. They’re one of those teams that for whatever reason — I guess it’s because people like the way their uniforms look or something — that every yuppie with a BMW or some special attachment to its computer or some designer set of jeans is a Cubs fan. And refers to it as ‘My Cubbies.'”

This is a family website, so I will not say what I really want to toward Leach, but, yeah, shut up, you wannabe pirate.

Bad News For Badgers – Wisconsin’s defense has been solid this season, but it lost a key player in leading tackler Jack Cichy, who will miss the rest of the year with a torn pectoral muscle.
