I enjoy an early bed time, so the fact that the NCAA Tournament games were so late over the weekend has turned me into a grump in the mornings. Sure, I don’t have to watch UCLA-Cincinnati at what seemed like 2 a.m. last night, but I feel that if I skip it, I’ll miss something magical. Luckily, all of us now have three days to get back to normal.
In college football news, Alabama quarterback signee Tua Tagovailoa is not backing down from the challenge of unseating Jalen Hurts as the starter, Georgia self-reported some minor NCAA violations, and we take a look at the best offensive linemen returning from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, and SEC. Here are some other newsworthy notes in the latest college football news roundup.
Standing Ovation – Former FSU safety Myron Rolle has had a lot of dreams already fulfilled in his short life: play Division I football, become a Rhodes Scholar, go to medical school. He can check another big accomplishment off the list as he announced on Twitter that he will be doing his neurosurgery residency at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard.
Can he run for President, yet?
Bad News In West Lafayette – Following an alleged sexual assault, three Purdue football players have been expelled from the university.
“My clients and I appreciate Purdue’s careful review of the facts and circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident, which led to the expulsion of these three players,” Mario Massillamany, attorney for the accusers, said. “Purdue has taken the necessary steps to ensure that these players will not victimize another student, for which we are grateful.”
Feats of Strength – Hawaii held its spring game over the weekend, and Rainbow Warriors head coach Nick Rolovich was sure to make it an event.
Along with him coaching the game in a tux and green top hat, adults also competed in a tricycle race as they called it a Family Festivus.
Here’s hoping the airing of grievances did not take place.
