The lull after the conference championship games and the bowl games is both boring and stressful, with the year ending, the holidays coming up, and no college football to watch. Luckily, Army and Navy are playing on December 10, so we do have another week with the beautiful game after all of the championship games this weekend.

In college football news, Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin’s name is coming up for the Houston head coaching position, Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops tells us what it is like to play in Bedlam, and we handed out a few regular season awards to SEC players and coaches. Here are some other newsworthy notes in the latest college football news roundup.

Is He Staying or Going? – Florida State running back Dalvin Cook would more than likely be a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he decided to forego his senior season and start making money as a professional. There’s still a chance that he returns to Tallahassee, though.

“I would go back because I love this university. I love everything we have going on here. It’s really like my second home. Basically. I’ve become so comfortable with everything that’s going on here. I love it,” Cook said.

Him returning would be good news for the Seminoles and bad news for the rest of the ACC.

A Fine Cause – Michigan was fined $10,000 for Jim Harbaugh’s post-game tirade about refereeing during The Game. Wolverine fans decided to spin the story forward in a positive light by setting a goal to match the total and donate it to the ChadTough Foundation, which is named after Lloyd Carr’s late grandson and supports research for pediatric brain cancer. Fans quickly exceeded the $10,000 and as of post have raised more than $27,000. To donate, click here.

Gone Too Soon – Former USC running back Joe McKnight was shot to death on Thursday afternoon after an incident involving road rage outside of New Orleans. At USC, McKnight rushed for 2,213 yards and accounted for 15 touchdowns. He was 28.

WILLLLLLSSSON! – Sorry to go all Tom Hanks in Castaway on you. Indiana fired head coach Kevin Wilson after six years, with his dismissal coming due to “philosophical differences.” In his place, the Hoosiers have promoted defensive coordinator Tom Allen to the permanent position.
