The episode of Seinfeld where Mr. Pitt can’t see the picture in the 3-D drawing was on last night, and I couldn’t help but feel his pain. All during the 90s, I tried and tried to see what was in those things and whatever it was never popped out to me. It still bothers me to this day, so I am happy that fad went away after the decade.
In college football news, we explain why Tommy Tuberville will make the perfect politician, Florida head coach Jim McElwain is being vague on the Gators quarterback race, and Virginia Tech has given head coach Justin Fuente a contract extension through 2023. Here are some other newsworthy notes in the latest college football news roundup.
Sour Grapes? – Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly isn’t so sure that former Irish quarterback DeShone Kizer should have left for the NFL early.
“He should still be in college. … He needs more time to grow in so many areas, not just on the field but off the field,” Kelly said.
This could be seen as a coach being honest, or as a man who has a reputation as a hot head being upset that a player went against his advice. Either way, Kizer is currently listed as high as the No. 3 quarterback on the board.
Speaking of College Quarterbacks – Former Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly, who has already been a subject of controversy due to not being invited to the NFL Combine, had a short Pro Day in Oxford as he injured his wrist and stopped throwing.
“I tried pushing through it this whole week and it felt good,” Kelly said. “And then I just kind of threw one, turning my wrist over pretty hard, and it felt weird. And then I threw one in the flat, and it just didn’t feel the same. The guys decided to call it quits for the day and hopefully come back in a week or two and see how it is.”
A Little Ryan Action – Fans of Rex Ryan – and people who want to see how he does as a television commentator – will want to tune in to Florida State’s spring game this Saturday, as he will be making his debut. The former Jets and Bills head coach will be on Sunday NFL Countdown this fall.
