It is Wednesday, which means we are getting closer to the sights and sounds of college football after those long, miserable days without it. A lot has been happening, including Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn showing some rare emotion during his press conference, the Miami Hurricanes going retro, and Campus Insiders taking a look at what scenarios would have played out had Tim Tebow gone to Alabama instead of Florida. Here are some other newsworthy notes in the latest college football news roundup.

Give The Man A Break (And Another Beer) – Apparently at Rutgers tailgates, police officers go around handing out tickets to underage kids that are drinking. What in the world is that about? This is college football, not high school prom. Sure, it was a school-sponsored tailgate, but even athletic director Pat Hobbs got into some trouble for taking a drink of beer after being egged on by students. Hobbs has since apologized, and the tailgate has been shut down. I though the No Fun Police worked on Sundays.

The Fall Of Troy – The start of the USC season has been sinking faster than the Titanic, though I highly doubt there will be a movie made about it. Offensive tackle O.J. Price has made the decision to transfer to a school closer to his home in Georgia after being homesick, but internet rumors were that Price had punched head coach Clay Helton. Helton quickly shut down those rumors, but the way the season is going for the Trojans, anything is possible. I envision Helton, late at night, standing in front of a window overlooking the practice field while murmuring, “I’ve made a huge mistake.”

Houston Loses One – No, not a game, but wide receiver Tren’Davian Dickson. Dickson had originally enrolled at Baylor and gone through spring practice with the Bears, but decided to transfer to Houston this summer. He had to sit out the 2016 season due to the transfer.
