Former FSU and West Virginia quarterback Clint Trickett will join Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama in a support role.
January 25, 2017Former FSU and West Virginia quarterback Clint Trickett will join Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama in a support role.
Nick Saban has had a knack for bringing in upcoming coaches and turning them into valuable assets that go onto head coaching jobs: Kirby Smart and Will Muschamp, just to name two examples. Now, Clint Trickett will be learning under the guidance of the 65-year-old Alabama coach as he joins the Crimson Tide support staff.
Trickett has spent the last two seasons as the quarterbacks coach at East Mississippi Community College, one of the most successful JUCO programs in the country recently and known for being the school featured in the documentary series “Last Chance U.”
With Steve Sarkisian being promoted from offensive analyst to offensive coordinator following Lane Kiffin’s departure, it could be assumed that Trickett will be filling Sarkisian’s old role. Sarkisian served as the play-caller for the Crimson Tide offense in the 35-31 loss to Clemson in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
Trickett spent time at both Florida State and West Virginia playing quarterback during his collegiate career, ending his playing days early in 2014 after suffering five concussions in 14 months. His father, Rick, is currently the offensive line coach for the Seminoles, and worked under Saban in 2000 at LSU.
