October 6, 2016Clemson vs. Boston College prediction roundtable with the Campus Insiders staff. Breaking down what will happen in Friday night’s ACC game between the Tigers and Eagles.
This has all the makings of a trap game for Clemson: Friday on the road coming off a hard-fought, emotional victory against Louisville. The Tigers will look sluggish, and they’ll still win by two touchdowns. Meanwhile, college football fans will wonder why in God’s name the ACC is taking a page from the Pac-12’s playbook and burying its best team on a Friday night.
This is laughable. Clemson just quieted the college football world by beating what was the hottest team in the nation in Louisville. There is no way Deshaun Watson doesn’t light up Boston College this week. Wayne Gallman will do his thing, too, and the Tigers will cruise to victory.
Steve Addazio’s stingy Eagles defense may be able to stymie the Clemson offense through the first half, but this is a Tigers unit that is finally clicking on all cylinders after a few rough weeks to start the season. Dabo Swinney’s squad loves to shine under the bright lights on a big stage, and it will be no different this week on a Friday night in Chestnut Hill. Clemson explodes in the second half of a 34-13 win.
That was the Clemson we were expecting entering the season, pulling out the thriller against Louisville in Death Valley last week. Still, this is the typical case of where the Tigers could “Clemson” themselves, especially against a Boston College defense that leads the nation in total defense, allowing only 202 yards per game. If Clemson is different, they will pull this one out early and blow the Eagles out. I think they are different. Clemson rolls.
