With National Signing Day looming, here’s a look at a mock 2017 recruiting class for the Clemson Tigers. Dabo Swinney looks to hit the recruiting trail for the first time as a national champion.
Think about this for a second. This will be the first recruiting class Dabo Swinney will sign as a national champion. That’s an enormous advantage, and Tiger fans are hoping it’ll lead to a few surprises down the stretch as National Signing Day comes closer into view.
Clemson is still without a running back commit in the class, and is trying to add one before Feb. 1. But if the Tigers can’t pull it off, they’ll still have a respectable haul.
With that said, here is a look at a mock Clemson Tigers recruiting class as the 2017 cycle nears its end.
Quarterback
Hunter Johnson, 4-Star
He shows great pocket presence and excellent arm strength.
Chase Brice, 4-Star
He has a smooth release and the intangibles to play the quarterback position.
Running Back
Travis Etienne, 4-Star
LSU, Tennessee and Texas A&M are going to make it difficult. He wants to play early, and Clemson can make its pitch by getting Etienne on campus for an official visit.
Wide Receiver
Tee Higgins, 4-Star
He brings elite size to the position and is a true deep threat. Higgins high points the football and shows great control of his body.
Amari Rodgers, 4-Star
He’s a tough-nosed receiver with reliable hands, and makes things happen after the catch.
Tight End
Logan Rudolph, 4-Star
It won’t take long for Clemson to involve Rudolph in the passing game. He’s a great route runner with great hands.
Offensive Linemen
Matt Bockhorst, 4-Star
He’s a solid drive blocker and is built to help the running game.
Blake Vinson, 4-Star
Vinson has quick feet and is versatile enough to slide down the offensive line.
Noah DeHond, 3-Star
He’s powerful OL with long arms.
Defensive Linemen
Jordan Williams, 4-Star
He’s an athletic defensive end who fires off the ball.
Linebackers
Justin Foster, 4-Star
Foster lays the wood and will bring an aggressive mentality toward stopping the run.
Defensive Backs
A.J. Terrell, 4-Star
Terrell recovers well and has great ball skills.
LeAnthony Williams, 4-Star
He’s a physical cornerback with great awareness.
Baylon Spector, 3-Star
Spector has played receiver, so we know he can catch the ball, but he can certainly hit, too.
Davondre “Tank” Robinson, 3-Star
The Tigers are battling with NC State, Notre Dame, South Carolina and Virginia Tech here.
