February 18, 2017Former Clemson defensive tackle Scott Pagano is a hot commodity as a graduate transfer. Which schools could be in the mix for the former Tiger?
News spread fast of Clemson defensive tackle Scott Pagano’s departure from the Tigers.
The graduate transfer announced on Friday that he will pursue an opportunity to play elsewhere in 2017, and there is already a lot of interest in his services. According to 247Sports, he has already heard from 32 programs in the last 18 hours since receiving his release. And the number could keep growing.
Included in the group interested in the Hawaii native are LSU, Washington, Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, Oregon, USC, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Notre Dame. This past season, he won a national championship with the Tigers and graduated in December with a degree in Sociology. It was Clemson’s first national title since the 1981 season.
Pagano is immediately eligible and has one year of eligibility remaining. He plans to visit several programs in the next two months before enrolling in May.
In 705 career snaps, the former four-star recruit recorded 93 tackles (eight for loss), 2.5 sacks and seven quarterback pressures. The 6-foot-4, 295-pounder, who can bench press 470 pounds, received 299 snaps in 12 games (four starts) in ’16.
Pagano could be one of the better defensive tackles in the 2018 NFL Draft because he has good size and can play a couple of different spots across the defensive line.
