Clemson star running back Wayne Gallman left the Tigers’ game against NC State after taking a scary helmet-to-helmet hit.

Clemson running back Wayne Gallman left his team’s game against NC State on Saturday after taking a huge hit at the end of a reception.

The Georgia native appeared to hurt his neck after a scary helmet-to-helmet collision with Dravious Wright at the end of a long catch-and-run. Gallman fumbled on the play, and NC State recovered the football.

After remaining on the ground for about a minute and a half, the redshirt junior was helped off of the field and taken into the injury tent on the sideline.

Coming into the contest, Gallman had rushed 88 times for 475 yards and five touchdowns on the year. Against the Wolfpack, he had 14 yards on two carries and added another 18 yards on a reception before getting knocked out of the contest.

Redshirt sophomore Adam Choice replaced Gallman at running back following the injury. Choice’s most significant contribution this season came against Georgia Tech when he rushed four times for 26 yards.
