The Cincinnati Bearcats have made it to the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a preview of the team and a prediction of how they’ll do during March Madness.

    Resume

    Team: Cincinnati Bearcats

    Record:
     22-10

    Conference:
    American Athletic Conference

    Head coach:
    Mick Cronin

    How they got here:
     At-large bid

    The Good

Mick Cronin’s teams are all about controlling the tempo and playing defense. He has been counting on Gary Clark and Octavius Ellis to take care of the glass and keep opponents from getting out in transition all season. That duo is money inside, and Clark can step away from the bucket and hit some threes. Troy Caupain and Farad Cobb work more on the perimeter, though Caupain is a slasher who will have the ball in his hands late.

    The Bad

Inconsistency, plus an inability to create live-ball turnovers, has been an issue for the Bearcats this year. This is a team that can struggle offensively, and when the perimeter shots aren’t falling, Cincy bogs down. Free-throw shooting is a bit of an issue, too.

    Prediction

Cincy’s future is all about matchups. If they face a longer, more athletic team, the Bearcats are going to be in trouble. If they play a disciplined team, they will be in trouble as well. Cronin’s teams focus on defense, and if they face a quicker team, they could be a first- or second-round bust.
