Chris Allen recruiting update. Ranked as one of the nation's top linebackers, Allen discusses where LSU currently stands.
March 18, 2016LSU is firmly in the hunt for top linebacker recruit Chris Allen, a Baton Rouge native.
Chris Allen, the nation’s No. 4 outside linebacker recruit for 2017, is from Louisiana State’s backyard. He lives in Baton Rouge and attends Southern University Lab School, located less than 10 miles from LSU’s campus.
Given his location, one would have to think the Tigers would rank high on his list of potential colleges. Allen recently spoke with SEC Country, discussing just where LSU stands at this time in his recruitment.
“They’re definitely like top three,” Allen told SEC Country. “I haven’t made a list yet, but I know that LSU, at worse, is going to be top five. They’re going to be in the mix for sure, you know.”
In early February, Scout.com’s Chad Simmons caught up with Allen, who at the time listed LSU at No. 2 behind arch-rival Alabama. As is the nature with teenagers, minds change fast. The good news for Les Miles and the Tigers is that Allen continually lists them among his top choices and has made several short trips to LSU’s campus to check out the program.
He’s also visited Alabama and has taken mulitple trips to see Starkville, Miss. and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
“Alabama is my No. 1 school now,” Allen told Simmons. “I was recently there for a visit and I liked everything. It was my first time visiting Alabama and I really liked the facilities, the coaches, and the environment.
For Allen, Alabama’s winning environment sets the Crimson Tide apart.
“The environment there is the best any environment could be. It is about working hard, it is about winning, and it is a place I feel they could really develop me as a player. It is just an environment that has the feel of success there.”
