Chaz Ah You made his decision on National Signing Day, committing to play for the BYU Cougars. The four-star safety also was considering Washington, among others.

Fans from BYU and Washington had to wait longer than expected for Chaz Ah You’s decision – twice. In the end, Ah You chose to remain home.

The 4-star safety from Provo announced on National Signing Day that he would be attending BYU hours after he originally was supposed to make his decision. And that came after Ah You delayed the announcement for a few days.

Ah You made his announcement through a video on Bleacher Report.

Ah You is ranked as the No. 10 safety and No. 121 player overall in the 2017 class. He was expected to make his decision over the weekend but decided to delay the announcement until National Signing Day and took an official visit to BYU. That visit affirmed Ah You’s decision to join Kalani Sitake and his staff with the Cougars, remaining in his hometown.

Washington also believed it had a shot to land Ah You, who was rumored to be leaning toward the Huskies. That ultimately wasn’t the case.

The 6-foot, 200-pound Ah You will provide a solid presence in the defensive backfield for the Cougars. His speed and instincts give him the ability to make plays on the ball, and he’s also not going to let many opponents break out of his tackles.

Ah You and defensive end Langl Tulfua are BYU’s highest-rated recruits.
