The Chattanooga Mocs have made it to the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a preview of the team and a prediction of how they’ll do during March Madness.

    Resume

    Team: Chattanooga Mocs

    Record:
    29-5

    Conference:
    Southern Conference

    Head coach:
    Matt McCall

    How they got here:
    Won conference tournament

    The Good

Overlook Chattanooga at your own risk. This is a team that beat Georgia, Illinois and Dayton this season. Beyond that, the Mocs won more games than just about anyone else in Division I this season. Chattanooga isn’t blessed with great size, but few teams play better off one another. This is a balanced team that shares the ball and can get to the free-throw line, and Tre McLean is willing to take and make the big shot when his team needs it most.

    The Bad

When Chattanooga has lost this season, it has been because the team simply shot the ball poorly and didn’t have the size to control the glass. Offensive brownouts have been an issue at times, and this isn’t a team that loves to get in an up-and-down game. Controlling the tempo is everything for the Mocs.

    Prediction

Chattanooga scored five wins over RPI top 100 teams, though three of those five came against East Tennessee State, who isn’t going to be cutting down any nets in March. This is a team that will be dangerous and competitive, but it won’t be sticking around for long if it escapes the first round.
