The Central Michigan Chippewas will travel to Dix Stadium to take on the Kent State Golden Flashes in a cross division MAC matchup.

The Chippewas (5-5, 4-2 MAC) saw their three-game winning streak come to an end with a 28-23 loss to Toledo a week ago. Down 21-0, Central Michigan rallied to outscore the Rockets 23-7 from that point, but ultimately fell short. Cooper Rush was able to pull together a solid performance after a slow start, hitting 33 of 52 pass attempts for 349 yards and two touchdowns. The 52 pass attempts were a result of the running game being unable to gain any momentum as the Rockets held the Chippewa backfield to just 59 yards. Jesse Kroll was the high man for the CMU receiving corps. Kroll hauled in seven receptions for 130 yards (three shy of his career high), but was held out of the end zone.

The Golden Flashes (3-7, 2-4 MAC) are looking to snap a three-game skid, with their latest loss a 27-0 shutout at Ohio last week. A 49-yard pass from Derrius Vick to Sebastian Smith put seven on the board early for the Bobcats and that is all they would need. Kent State will need to come out with a better offensive game plan against the Chippewas after being held to just 191 total yards last week.

This is the first meeting between Central Michigan and Kent State since 2011, but the 33rd all-time. The Chippewas hold a 22-10 lead in the series and are winners of five of the last seven.

    Prediction

Central Michigan will get up early with a few scores, and that should be enough to get by. The Golden Flashes will sputter and cough missing a few key chances, but the defense will be just good enough to keep this from getting out of hand.
