Camping World Bowl Takes Over For Russell Athletic Bowl

    A longtime college football bowl game is changing names. The Camping World Bowl will replace the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando.

    A college football bowl game that has been based in Orlando for several years is getting yet another title sponsor.

    Camping World has reached an agreement with Florida Citrus Sports to become the new title sponsor of the game previously known as the Russell Athletic Bowl, one of the three postseason games in Orlando. The Camping World Bowl will continue to feature tie-ins with teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference and Big 12 Conference, and it will take place at a date to be determined in mid-December.

    Camping World, which is a best-selling retailer of RVs and their supporting accessories, had previously become partners with Florida Citrus Sports to secure the naming rights to the stadium as well as several neutral-site matchups to take place at the venue.

    “We’re excited to extend our successful partnership with Florida Citrus Sports and the collegiate partners who participate in this great game each year,” said Marcus Lemonis, Chairman and CEO of Camping World and Good Sam Enterprises. “The core platform we have in Orlando with the stadium naming rights and Camping World Kickoff game makes this expansion a natural fit. Florida is a key market for us and that coupled with the nationwide exposure of this post season bowl game, makes it an ideal opportunity.”

    In last year’s Russell Athletic Bowl, Miami delivered Mark Richt a win to close out his first season as head coach in Coral Gables, as quarterback Brad Kaaya and the Hurricanes claimed a 31-14 victory over West Virginia. Russell Athletic had been the title sponsor of the game since 2012.

    Longtime college football fans will remember this Orlando-based game for having several different sponsors, as Blockbuster, Carquest, MicronPC, Tangerine and Champs Sports have all been names of this particular event before being involved with Russell Athletic and now Camping World.
