Top 100 running back recruit Cam Akers clears air on report that he committed to the Georgia Bulldogs.

One of the top recruits in the nation for 2017, Clinton High School running back Cam Akers, decided to reopen his recruitment this past week. Akers had been committed to Alabama since last August, but backed off his pledge in order to further evaluate his options.

One of the programs in the thick of Akers’ recruitment is Georgia. New head coach Kirby Smart poses a threat to land the 4-star recruit from Mississippi, but, contrary to news that surfaced following his decommitment that he had committed to the Bulldogs, Smart still has work to do if he wants to reel in Akers.

Akers was quick to point out the false information being provided.

He also informed Kipp Adams of Dawgs247 that he had not committed to Georgia.

Akers is listed as the No. 82 overall player and No. 9 running back in the nation for the 2017 recruiting class.
