    December 20, 2016

The countdown to elite running back recruit Cam Akers’ commitment is on.

Five-star running back Cam Akers is a week out from announcing his college decision. Akers, the nation’s No. 2 RB and No. 4 overall player, will reveal his commitment with the High School Football Network on Dec. 27 at 7:00 p.m.

Akers revealed his plans via Twitter on Tuesday, as well as a final six schools consisting of Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss and Tennessee.

Missing the cut in the above video from his updated top 10 list last May were Auburn, Cal, Michigan and Ohio State.

A prospect of Clinton High School in Clinton, Mississippi, Akers is listed at 5’11” and 212 pounds. He’s shifty, yet physical, and can contribute on the ground and through the air. Outside of his pass protection skills, which he’ll have a chance to develop at the next level, Akers is the total package.

The Seminoles, who are believed by some to be the frontrunner right now, have made a strong push since the start of December, visiting him on three different occasions.

Akers was recently named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Mississippi.
