Caleb Kelly commits to the Oklahoma Sooners on National Signing Day.

Bob Stoops and the Oklahoma Sooners tied a bow on their 2016 recruiting class on Wednesday evening when 5-star linebacker Caleb Kelly announced his commitment to Oklahoma, choosing the Sooners over Notre Dame and Oregon.

Kelly is listed as the nation’s No. 2 outside linebacker and No. 17 overall recruit.

At 6-foot2, 220 lbs and clocking in at 4.70 seconds in the 40-yard dash, Kelly has the size and speed to make an immediate impact for the Sooners.

With his pledge, Oklahoma’s class totals 20 commitments and ranks at No. 20 in the team rankings.

    Player Comparison

    Eric Kendricks OLB

We all saw what Eric Kendricks did at UCLA, and we all were pleasantly surprised by how well he did as a rookie with the Minnesota Vikings. Caleb Kelly has glimpses of the former Bruin in his game. He’s extremely athletic and with ideal size, but like Kendricks, he can make plays in the flats and really affect the short passing game with his zone coverage. Kelly has the tools to earn early playing time in Norman, Okla., and Bob Stoops knows he landed a stud outside linebacker.
