Four-star offensive guard Caleb Chandler committed to Louisville on Sunday, giving the Cardinals 22 total commits in the 2017 recruiting class.

On Saturday, the news broke that Florida offensive line coach Mike Summers would be leaving the Gators to take the same role with Louisville. A day later, the Cardinals won a recruiting battle with Florida for the nation’s No. 22 offensive guard.

Four-star prospect Caleb Chandler committed to Louisville on Sunday. The Cardinals now have 22 total commits in the cycle and sit at No. 20 in the 2017 recruiting class rankings — two spots ahead of Florida.

Chandler, who’s from Jefferson, Georgia and is ranked as the No. 3 offensive guard in the Peach State, held additional offers from Cincinnati, Maryland, Miami, Ole Miss, Oregon,Virginia Tech and others. He released a brief statement regarding his decision to give Louisville his pledge.

“I’m done. [I’m] shutting it down for good! [I’ve] decided to commit to the University of Louisville.”

At 6-foot-5, 302 lbs Chandler has a history at offensive tackle but will likely make the full-time move inside at the next level. He finishes blocks well and climbs to the second level fairly quickly. He churns his feet and can get defenders moving backward quite easily. He’ll be an excellent fit for Louisville’s rushing attack.

Chandler is now one of three offensive linemen committed to the Cardinals in the 2017 class. He joins 4-star offensive guard Cole Bentley and 2-star long snapper Mitch Hall.
