March 2, 2017Four-star wide receiver Brian Hightower committed to Miami late Wednesday night, giving the Hurricanes 13 total commits in the 2018 recruiting class.
If you’re having trouble finding Mark Richt, try looking in the eye of that storm forming over the recruiting trail right about now.
On Wednesday night, the Hurricanes landed their 13th commit of the cycle when 4-star prospect Brian Hightower committed to Miami. The ‘Canes moved up from No. 3 to No. 2 in the 2018 recruiting class rankings with his pledge, passing Notre Dame in the process.
He’s ranked as the No. 6 wide receiver and No. 37 overall player in the country.
Hightower, who attends the IMG Academy, also holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, UCLA and USC, among others.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound recruit is originally from Calabasas, California. So, the fact the Miami staff was able to convince him to stay on the East Coast is a big deal.
Hightower released a brief statement regarding his decision to give the Hurricanes his commitment.
“305, here I come. ‘Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.'”
The addition of the 4-star wide receiver comes about a week after Miami added a pledge from 4-star quarterback Artur Sitkowski, Hightower’s teammate at IMG.
While Hightower is the first commit to join the class in March, the ‘Canes added five commitments in the month of February, and it all started with the pledge of 5-star running back Lorenzo Lingard.
When Lingard gave his commitment to Miami, he turned himself into a recruiter to help the class grow. It appears he’s helped quite a bit already by getting the ball rolling.
