Brian Burns commits to Florida State on National Signing Day. The 5-star defensive end picked the Seminoles over Florida and Georgia.
February 3, 2016It’s been quite a long journey down the 2016 recruiting cycle for the nation’s No. 5-ranked defensive end, but the time has come for one program to claim a top pass rusher. The wait ended when Brian Burns committed to Florida State on National Signing Day.
It’s a huge pickup for the Seminoles to get the 5-star defensive end, who ranks as the No. 22 overall prospect in the class.
Burns chose Florida State over Florida and Georgia. Jimbo Fisher has to be excited to start developing him upon his arrival this summer.
He has a lot of weight to put on in order to tip the scale on Carlos Dunlap, but there are some similarities between Burns and the former Florida Gator turned Cincinnati Bengal. Burns takes pride in firing off the ball and using his first step to beat offensive tackles. The threat of the speed rush can force tackles to give up the inside move, which Burns has the agility to capitalize on.
