March 3, 2017Four-star defensive end Brenton Cox is eager to take his upcoming Ohio State visit. The trip will be Cox’s second – his first came during the Rutgers game last season.
With offers from nearly every top program across the college football landscape, it’s safe to say that 4-star defensive end Brenton Cox will have his pick of the litter come National Signing Day. One of those teams, Ohio State, will get its close-up this weekend, as Cox visits Columbus for the second time.
Having already gotten the lay of the land, Cox is now interested in deep-diving into the Buckeyes’ schemes.
“When I was up at Ohio State the first time, I got to see the environment and it was great,” Cox told Rivals. “I was able to see how it is at a game in person and I watched how they played. Now I get to see more of the school this time.
“I want to learn more about how I will fit into their defense if I go there this visit. I want to learn more about their scheme, see how I fit in with the team and just learn as much as I can.”
Hailing from Stockbridge, Georgia, Cox is widely believed a lock for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs. Pundits projections haven’t stopped Cox from performing due diligence. This second visit to Columbus comes one week after he unofficially visited Tuscaloosa to check out the Alabama Crimson Tide.
An athletic defensive end, Cox fires off the ball and turns the corner with speed. He possesses a good motor, and keeps going until the whistle blows. Heading into his senior season, it would behoove Cox to tighten up on his technique, most notably his hand fighting and leverage.
Cox is ranked as the No. 6 defensive end in his class and No. 50 overall player in the nation.
