Four-star defensive end Brenton Cox says he feels the most at home at Alabama and Georgia.

Brenton Cox is one of the premier edge rushers in the 2017 recruiting class. Checking in at 6’4″ and 230 pounds, he has the size and is chalk full of athleticism.

Last week, Cox took the trip west from Stockbridge, Georgia, which is just south of Atlanta, to Tuscaloosa, Alabama for the Crimson Tide’s junior day. Alabama is one of 24 offers Cox has received – the Crimson Tide extended their’s on June 22, 2016. Since then he’s picked up 11 more, eight of which have come in the past two months.

While Georgia is the frontrunner right now – Cox discussed why the Bulldogs are standing out earlier in February – Alabama has left an impression on the nation’s No. 50 overall player and No. 6 defensive end.

“I am at the point where I need to feel more at home,” Cox told Jeff Sentelle of DawgNation following his trip to Tuscaloosa. “Which I do feel more at home at Alabama and Georgia than anywhere else.”

With more and more schools showing interest and the offers continuing to pour in, the decision for Cox will become tougher and tougher. What could be a defining factor is which college feels the most like home, which at this time is at the two SEC programs.

Kirby Smart has done a fantastic job of locking down the borders since he’s arrived, and Cox is the type of player he doesn’t want to let slip away, especially across the border to the Crimson Tide. This one is shaping up to be another battle between UGA and Alabama, something that’s become a bit more prevalent since Smart departed Tuscaloosa for Athens.

A timeline for Cox’s commitment is uncertain at this time. He may opt to wait until after his senior season to announce.
