Brent Key is expected to be named as Alabama's new offensive line coach, according to a report.
February 15, 2016Nick Saban is never quite done tinkering with the well-oiled machine that is Alabama football. The Crimson Tide keeps rolling, but that’s because Saban is forever tilting the wheel to keep the path fresh.
Apparently, the Alabama head coach is planning on making a pretty significant move in the near future.
According to a report from Sports Illustrated’s Thayer Evans, Brent Key is expected to be named as the Tide’s new offensive line coach.
Current Alabama offensive line coach Mario Cristobal would reportedly switch over to coach tight ends and tackles, thus allowing Key to take the reins of the hogs in the trench.
Key, who’s from Birmingham, Ala., was Central Florida’s offensive line coach for six seasons and was also recruiting coordinator for five years. He played right guard for Georgia Tech from 1997 to 2000 and helped the Yellow Jackets win a share of the ACC title in 1998 as a sophomore.
The Crimson Tide signed five offensive linemen in the 2016 recruiting class, and all five were rated as 4-star recruits or higher.
