    Final Score: Boise State 56, Virginia 14

    1. Backup quarterback Brett Rypien threw three touchdown passes and Justin Taimatuia returned an interception 21 yards for a score as Boise State won easily. The Broncos scored 17 points in the first eight minutes with Jeremy McNichols running for a two-yard score and Tyler Rausa hitting a 51-yard field goal to go along with the pick six.

    2. Virginia made it 17-7 in the first quarter on a 75-yard pass play to T.J. Thorpe, but it was all Boise State for most of the second quarter with a safety and the first Rypien touchdown pass making it 29-7. A third Rousa field goal in the third sparked a run of 27 unanswered points to close. The Bronco D got a second interception for a score on a 25-yard Mercy Maston pick.

    3. Rypien found Thomas Sperbeck for touchdowns from 30 and 64 yards out in the second half.

    Boise State

    – Brett Rypien completed 24-of-35 passes for 321 yards and three scores.

    – Thomas Sperbeck caught five passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns.

    – Boise State only converted 3-of-14 third down chances but was +5 in turnover margin.

    Virginia

    – Matt Johnson completed 12-of-25 passes for 199 yards and three picks and ran seven times for nine yards.

    – Virginia ran 33 times for 40 yards, but the D held Boise State to 89 rushing yards on 31 carries.

    – The Cavaliers gained just 273 yards and came up with ten first downs.
