The Lobos are fresh off their best win of the Bob Davie era, stunning Utah State to remain in the postseason—and even the Mountain Division—hunt. New Mexico is determined to frustrate Boise State, slowing the game down with QB Lamar Jordan, backs Jhurell Pressley and Teriyon Gipson and the rest of a ground assault averaging 235 yards per game.
It takes balance and multi-dimensions to solve this Bronco defense. Boise State is typically stout at the point of attack, ranking No. 4 nationally in yards per carry allowed. Plus, the Broncos lead the Mountain West in scoring behind the running of Jeremy McNichols and the passing of Brett Rypien.
New Mexico did Boise State a favor last week, knocking Utah State out of first place in the division. But the good times end this Saturday night for the Lobos. The Broncos will take their gift and run with it, gashing a New Mexico D that’s not quite as stingy as it played a week ago.
