Boise State vs. Colorado State prediction and online live stream information for Thursday's Mountain West Tournament quarterfinal matchup between the Broncos and Rams.
March 10, 2016The No. 3 seed Boise State Broncos will face the No. 6 seed Colorado State Rams Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Tournament in Las Vegas.
The Broncos (20-11, 11-7 MW) are rested after a first-round bye and looking to put a 68-63 regular season finale loss to San Jose State behind them. Boise State was able to force more turnovers, but it couldn’t overcome its atrocious shooting. The Broncos collectively shot 10.5 percent from downtown and 37.9 percent from the field. They didn’t help themselves from the foul line either, missing 11 free throws. Anthony Drmic led the Broncos with 13 points off the bench.
The Rams (17-15, 8-10 MW) are coming off an impressive 80-61 first-round win over San Jose State. Colorado State led for most of the game thanks to its hot shooting and rebounding effort. The Rams were a sizzling 54.9 percent from the field, 40 percent from deep and were plus-10 rebounding margin. Colorado State had five players post double-figures, including four starters. Antwan Scott and Joe De Ciman had 17 points each for the Rams in the victory.
The quarterfinal matchup between Boise State and Colorado State will be the third of the season and the 16th all-time. It’s the first meeting between the two squads in a conference tournament.
Below is everything you need to know about the matchup, including the Boise State vs. Colorado State prediction, online live stream, and game notes.
This will be a good one. Both teams like to get up-and-down, can score at will and have playmakers who can change the game at a moment’s notice.
Antwan Scott and John Gillon are each coming off a nice game in the opening round, but both will need to be at the top of their games in this one for the Rams to have a shot at pulling out the upset. Ultimately, it’s difficult to bet against a talented Broncos squad. James Webb and Anthony Drmic are a dangerous duo and thrive on the big stage. Look for them to get their own on the scoreboard while getting their team involved, creating open looks. This will be a back-and-forth affair with neither team giving an inch, but the Broncos will prevail and advance.
