November 6, 2016Big 12 football standings for Week 11 of the season. Oklahoma continues to lead the charge in the conference thanks to quarterback Baker Mayfield.
Baker Mayfield has really taken things into his own hands for the Sooners. With Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine out, the Oklahoma quarterback led his team to a 34-24 win over Iowa State this past weekend. Bob Stoops’ team still holds control over the Big 12 because of it.
The team looking to leapfrog the Sooners is Oklahoma State. The second-place Cowboys were matched up with Kansas State and got into a shootout. Oklahoma State managed to take down the Wildcats, 43-37. Kansas State currently sits in fifth place.
There was a little bit of movement in the standings. Baylor dropped to fourth place after it fell in a blowout win for TCU, 62-22. The Horned Frogs, with that win, sit in sixth place at (5-4, Big 12 3-3). Jim Grobe’s team suffered a big loss to Texas two weekends ago, and now it may be out of the running for a College Football Playoff spot thanks to Saturday’s loss to TCU.
A week after the Longhorns took down the Bears, they went head-to-head with Texas Tech and handed the Red Raiders a 45-37 loss.
West Virginia is now in third place after it beat Kansas, 48-21. The Jayhawks are sitting in dead last but still have the same record as ninth place Iowa State.
