Can we please go one week where Baylor’s play on the field isn’t obscured by some nonsense away from it (can we, Shawn Oakman, pretty please). The Bears snuffed Rice’s passing offense last week (a whopping 31 yards by the Owls), while proving vulnerable against the run. Meanwhile, all Mason Rudolph and James Washington did was post passing and receiving records for Oklahoma State’s program – talk about catharsis. Fun fact: Rudolph has beaten every Big 12 team except for Baylor. He completes the sweep on Saturday in a shootout.

Regardless of whether or not Central Michigan should have had that last shot to beat Oklahoma State, it still happened. The Cowboys still lost. Seth Russell is going to light Oklahoma State up in this game. He’ll throw for three touchdowns, and two of them will go to Terrance Williams. Shock Linwood will do work on the ground, and the Bears will win at home.

We don’t know much about the Bears because of their annual weak non-conference schedule. But we will certainly find out a lot about Jim Grobe’s team this week against the Cowboys. Seth Russell has KD Cannon and a deep backfield at his disposal, while counterpart Mason Rudolph is coming off of a 540-yard passing performance. Baylor’s defensive numbers are misleading because of its weak opponents, while the Pokes are susceptible to the big play. The Bears make at least one more big play both on offense and defense, allowing Grobe to remain unbeaten.

This will be a shootout, but what Big 12 conference game isn’t? Oklahoma State, no matter what you think of the outcome of the game, let Central Michigan hang around. Good teams shouldn’t do that. Baylor quarterback Seth Russell and running back Shock Linwood will be too much for the Cowboys.
